![]() The best Family Day so far!
Parents, students and teachers joined forces to hold the most participated Family Day of the Ateneo having the theme “Familia Pusog, Banwaan Makusog” and held on the 20th of November 2010 at the Ateneo pacol Campus.
Organized by the Parent-Teacher Association and helped in the groundwork by the officers and moderators of each class, the whole-day activity featured talks on various family-related topics, band showdown among students, and afternoon program which showcased parents-and-children talents.
The entire stretch of activities was spurred by a Eucharistic celebration with School Chaplain Fr. Ruben Reyes SJ as celebrant.
Immediately after the mass, the parents trooped to separate venues for the different year levels. Invited experts talked about parenting and family-related topics, even opening the talk to interaction and responses from parents. The talks focused on “Parenting Today”, “Parents’ Guide to Internet Safety”, “Effective Study Habits for Successful Students” and “Helping Our Kids Cope with Emotional Challenges”.
As the parents glued themselves intently listening to relevant topics, the students remained in the Covered Courts with other family members listening to performances of bands composed also of high school students.
Students and their parents then proceeded to their respective learning group homeroom for lunch. Most classes had simple programs which ended in giving out of tokens to participating parents.
The most exhilarating part of the activity happened in the afternoon. Parents, students and teachers showed off their talents in singing and dancing. The afternoon program which was held at the Covered Courts was hosted by the local singing group, Fork Barrel. Opening the program were winning performances in the Cheer and Dance and Street Dance Competitions.
The High School Teatro Dignos gave the crowd a treat to their interpretative rendition of a Christmas song. Mr. Paul Padillo, an alumnus and parent of a freshman sang songs about care for nature. In between performances, raffle winners were announced.
The finale featured the most-awaited dance competition among year level groups composed of teachers, students, and parents representatives. The fourth year group was hailed as champion.
