The Ignatian spirit of helping others lives on as the Ateneo community conducted a relief operation, spearheaded by the Ateneo de Naga Student Government (ANSGO), among the calamity victims in the resettlement areas in the towns of Polangui, Oas, Camalig, Guinobatan and Ligao City last January 29, 2011.

The ANSGO, together with some volunteer faculty members and representatives from different clubs and learning groups distributed relief goods to a total of 500 families in the identified areas.

The fund used for the said program was donated by the students and parents as a response to the needs of the affected Bicolanos. It would be remembered that on an earlier date (January 27, 2011), the high school community gathered together foa a special Eucharistic celebration where donations in tended for the aid to calamity victims were offered.

The relief-operations team was able to see the damage created by the heavy rain in the said towns especially in Oas, Albay where the team had a glimpse of a landslide. Families which benefited the relief program were thankful for the assistance from the Ateneans. They appreciated the help rendered to them by the Ateneo community.
