As the government spearheads the implementation of the K-12 (Kinder to Grade 12) reform in the Philippine educational system, parents were gathered at the Seminar Hall on June 2, 2012 for the orientation on Ateneo freshmen education.

The half-day series of talks and forums included briefings on the government’s six-year high school program and the university’s response to the prescribed additional two years in the high school. Parents were informed of the school’s forthcoming plan to hold the additional two years at the university’s main campus, with the current lineup of faculty as teachers. This is the response to an absence of college enrolees for two years as first graduates of the program finish only on 2018. The campus at Pacol campus will remain a four-year high school.

The parents were also briefed on the academic policy of the school. They were also introduced to the services for the students. Another was the calendar of activities.

The first orientation for parents was organized by the Guidance Department, now headed by its newly appointed director, Mr. Geraldo Brizuela.
