The Chemistry Society, spearheaded by Ms. Wendy Solomo, organized and conducted its annual Chemistry Olympics at the Ateneo de Naga High School Covered Courts last October 16, 2009. The event was the jumpstart activity for the club. The members of the Chemistry Society were fatigued with the week-long preparation for the said affair. The event became an avenue for students who wanted to showcase their skills and talents. Like any of the other Olympics, the Chemistry Society offered five areas to compete with in the Chemistry Olympics; The Chemistry Quiz Bee, Guess-a-Gram, 3-point shootout, Poster Making Contest and Darts, each event participated by two representatives for each learning group. Jammed with third year students from different learning groups, the covered courts seemed to have thundered with claps and ‘yeheys’. Participants from each LGs underwent mind-twisting challenges which tested their abilities on a particular event. John Bulaong and James Adoremos, from LG 3311, won the Chemistry Quiz Bee, Moses Coriage and Jonriel Besinio, from LG 3311, won the Guess-a-Gram Competition, Zyad Al-Adawy and Cedie Abante, from LG 3311, won the Poster Making Contest, and Ian Keifer De Vera from LG 3214, won the Darts competition. Overall, the whole Chemistry Olympics was a big success for each and every 3rd year students especially for the members of the Chemistry Society. The event was just a kickoff activity of the Chemistry Society. There would be more fun-filled science-packed events next in line. |
