Upholding the Atenean tradition of service, the Ateneo de Naga University High School, through the office of Student Activities and Community Program (CSA-CP) conducted the third three-day immersion at Dusayan Village, Castillo, Cabusao, Camarines Sur last November 6-8, 2009.
Carrying the banner of "men and women for others," 49 students from 3rd and 4th year levels accompanied by fifteen faculty and staff members experienced a life of simplicity in the far-flung barangay. The students and their mentors interacted and blended with their respective families as they slept and lived with their foster family.
Exposing the participating students in the harsh reality of life outside the city, they ate what their host family eats everyday and worked with them to earn a living. Basically, the immersion’s participants engaged themselves in a typical life of a family at Cabusao, with no gadgets and perks of city life. They treated their foster family as their own family, respected each and every family member and performed their chores as part of their host family.
As a whole, the activity was a success to each and every participant of the immersion including its organizers. Sharing the Ignatian ideals and rendering a helping hand and a taste of joy is the core objective of the activity. After all, what matter are the smiles in their faces and the hope that Ateneans have given to them. |
