| AdNU High Debaters top regional Roco Cup; Tan grabs No. 1 spot |

Pictures by Katharine Joy Nerva & Mr. Meljohn Tatel  The Ateneo de Naga High School Debate Society (DebSoc) was hailed as the champion in the Bicol-wide Raul Roco Cup British Parliamentary Debate Tournament finals, toppling the archrival, Universidad de Sta. Isabel, held last December 1, 2009 at the Activity Center of Shoemart City Naga.Teams A, B, and C went all the way into the grand finals of the said tournament competing against USI Team C. Team A, composed of Dwight Garvy Tan and Merselle Montes, emerged as the champions; Team B, composed of Ralph Christian Bodollo and Katharine Joy Nerva, won the third-runner up and Team C, composed of Kristy Mae Figuracion and Janina Imperial, won the second-runner up. The tournament’s over-all and finals best speaker was Dwight Tan. A total of 6 speakers from the Ateneo contingent made it to the Top 10 Best Speakers of the tournament.
John Reinier Bulaong of LG 3311 made it to the grand finals of the Public Speaking competition against two other grand finalists from Aquinas University and Unibersidad de Sta Isabel. This year’s tournament was a remarkable one as the Ateneo de Naga University’s high school and college divisions gained its back-to-back glory for the second time. |
