The seminar had its first venue at the Covered Courts. It started with the registration and assembly of students and was then formally opened by Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, Mr. Honesto Bermudo III, warmly welcoming the neophyte Ateneans.
Aiming at better orienting the students about the fundamentals of the school, the department decided to divide the big group into smaller groups facilitated by selected peer volunteers. The peer volunteers, composed of upper class men, also introduced the new students to some survival tips, school policies, and songs of the school.
Each group had its own room and schedule which was jam-packed with activities that entailed teamwork and strategy. Some of the activities were 4Cs where the students needed to solve a puzzle about the values that Ateneans live by, “Matira Atenista” where the class had to answer a number of questions about the heads and offices of the school.
The two-day orientation was capped by a tour around the campus.
In the end, new bonds were formed. The Orsem 2010 is indeed an event to remember!
