Knights beat St.Joseph cagers |
|

By Mr. Niño Solomo
|
Ateneo finally broke free from St.Joseph School's basketball dominance as the Golden Knights outlasted their opponents 55-51 and secured their second win in the elimination round of Samahang Baskebol ng Pilipinas held at the Naga City Civic Center on September 4, 2010.
Ateneo banked on their running game, defensive savvy and their new-found passion for the game to pull away from their opponents in the second quarter and ended the half with an 8-point lead. However, cagers from St. Joseph, refused to go away, staged a late rally and erased the 6-point lead of Ateneo midway through the fourth quarter. But the Ateneans proved their mettle during crunch time as they played aggressive ball and blanked their opponents in the final minute of the game.

The tradition of bringing banners honoring the Blessed Mother dates back to the 80’s with the members of the defunct Advertising Men (AdMen), the high school’s group of artists, spearheading the production of the banners.
