| 126 pupils receive Ateneo student-made rosaries |
| Written by Mr. Nino Solomo |
One-hundred and twenty-six Grade Four pupils from Grandview Elementary School in Pacol, Naga City were recipients of student-made rosaries in the handover ceremony held on November 9, 2010.The rosary distribution is an offshoot of the Ateneans’ effort to spread the devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mother, Queen of Ateneo. The rosary-making is part of the Religion Department’s requirement among freshmen and sophomores. Aside from the distribution of rosaries, the Grade Four pupils were also taught how to pray the rosary through the help of twenty student-volunteers coming from the second-year level of the Ateneo de Naga. Gathered in one room, the recipients listened intently to the simple catechesis on the blessings of praying the rosary. Then, they fervently prayed the rosary and enjoyed the Powerpoint presentation on the video clips about the Sorrowful Mysteries. The rosary-making and eventual distribution is a form of outreach and is in its second year. The activity was spearheaded by Mr. Mario Francis Embestro and Mr. Nino Solomo of the Religion Department in cooperation with the Grandview Principal, Mrs. Lynn Padillo. |
